What is the Motivation behind the proposal for a new Westley Ave gate that connects to Linear Park?

It can't be for the actual neighbors. All the other abutters have their own private entrances or were offered them. The gate also doesn't save much time since the Mass Ave entrance is only around 2 blocks away. 

It also certainly isn't to save trees since the path from it to the main pathway would cut right across the roots of the trees. It also can't be for safety because it creates yet another conflict point with the main path as people may cross to Tyler Court.

Could it be to try to resurrect the bike lane on Reed and Sargent St proposal? 

This is a picture that was part of that proposal. It would add contra lanes and take away parking spots on Reed and Sargent St. This is a terrible idea that was rejected by the whole neighborhood.

Tell the city councillors this proposal and in fact the whole Linear Park redesign is a bad idea. For more details of that entire plan, please go here.
